"Instead of carrying a spirit of criticism or indifference with them wherever they go, disciples of an initiatic school try to understand everyone they meet: their needs, weaknesses and difficulties. And when they see how many people there are who are desperate and overburdened, who want to pick themselves up but can’t, their hearts are overcome with love and compassion. They ask themselves, ‘How can I help my brothers and sisters who are suffering and unhappy?’ And that’s when they become aware of all the treasures inside themselves that have accumulated over thousands of years and now, through neglect, are in danger of decay; they begin to draw on these treasures in order to give them away, and in doing so they realize how much richer they themselves have become.
