Relics - they can be compared to tin cans of preserves
"Even in the realm of religion, human beings are unable to detach themselves from matter and they focus on remains. They visit holy places, make pilgrimages, and venerate relics without realizing that it is not by clinging to material vestiges that they will be any closer to those who left these vestiges. Instead of finding the spirit they will find only dust and ruins; instead of finding life they will find death.
Only the spirit gives life. As for relics, they can be compared to… tin cans of preserves. Would you like to eat green peas, sardines or cherries? You only have to open a tin and there you are. They are not bad, but there is not the same life in those peas, sardines and cherries as there would be if they were fresh. So, forget about your tins of preserves and go to a restaurant that always serves the freshest food: this restaurant is the sun. Once you make up your minds to eat there regularly, you will become stronger and more enlightened.*"Omraam Mikhael Aivanhov
